Private jet charter

London to Nice by private jet

In short

How much does a private jet from London to Nice cost?

London to Nice is 580 nautical miles and takes under two hours in a light jet, which makes it one of the most-flown private routes in Europe. Every aircraft class can do it non-stop, so the choice is about cabin and cost rather than capability — and a light jet is genuinely enough for four people.

Indicative prices start around $10,000–$25,000 on the smallest suitable aircraft, and the full range for every class that can fly the leg is below.

What comes back, and how the number was reached

We have no completed flights to point at and no reviews to show you, so instead here is the thing itself: the shape of the reply this route produces, and the arithmetic behind the band above. Both are generated from the same data as every other figure on this page.

There is never a second invoice. VAT, de-icing and peak surcharges are shown separately when they apply, before you agree to anything.

A specimen, and marked as one. The distance, block time and price band above are computed for this route by the same model that produces every table on this site. The tail number is deliberately not a real one, and the operator, rating and audit date are shown as the fields they occupy rather than invented — a live reply carries the actual values in each.

How that number is reached

  1. 580 nmGreat circle, from the two airports’ coordinates

  3. ÷ 280 ktLong-range cruise for this class

  5. 2 h 40 minBlock time — what an operator charges for
  6. × $2,000–$3,200Wet hourly rate band for the class
  7. + 10%Positioning — the aircraft rarely starts where you do
  8. + $4,700–$10,000Landing and ground handling at both ends
Rounded out to a band$10,000–$25,000

Computed at build time from the airport coordinates in our airports table and the rate bands in our aircraft table, by the same functions that produce every other figure on this site. The result is deliberately a band and not a fare: the largest single cost driver is where the aircraft happens to be that week, and a broker who quotes you one number before checking is guessing at it.

Cabin, class by class

The price table answers what the leg costs. This answers what you are sitting in for the duration — which on a sector of this length is usually the question that decides the booking. Cabin height is the line that matters most: below roughly six feet you spend the flight seated.

04The line

What is in the price

The bands on this page are all-in for the aircraft rather than a headline rate with extras bolted on afterwards. Here is exactly where the line falls, so that the quote you receive contains no surprises.

What the price includes

  • The aircraft, its crew and their duty time for your itinerary.
  • Fuel for the sector, including any repositioning the operator has to fly to reach you.
  • Landing, parking, navigation and FBO handling at both airports — roughly $4,700 to $10,000 on this pair for a heavy jet.
  • Standard catering. Anything more elaborate is quoted before you commit, never added afterwards.
  • Our commission. There is no second invoice and no booking fee.

What it does not

  • Value-added tax where the route attracts it. Intra-EU sectors usually do; most international ones do not.
  • De-icing in winter, which is charged at cost by the airport and cannot be predicted in advance.
  • Peak-period surcharge. On this route the busy months are May, June, July, August, when operators price roughly 25% above the rest of the year.
  • Overflight or landing permits that carry a government fee, which are passed through at cost.
  • Ground transport, hotels and anything arranged for you outside the aircraft.

05Demand

Who flies this route

The busiest leisure corridor in European business aviation, and the one where empty legs appear most often precisely because so many aircraft are repositioning around it. Summer weekends are the peak; the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix each compress a season’s demand into a few days.

06Timing

When it is expensive

A February midweek flight can be a third of the price of the same aircraft on a Friday in July. If your dates can move at all, this is the route where that flexibility is worth the most money.

07On the ground

The airports at each end

Nice is the busiest private-jet airport in Europe in summer, and between late May and August slots and parking must be secured days ahead rather than hours. Helicopter transfer to Monaco leaves from the same apron and takes six minutes, which is worth arranging with the flight rather than on arrival. On the London end, Farnborough is quicker for passengers heading south and west; Luton suits the north and the City.

08Verify, do not trust

Everything on this page can be checked by someone else

Once we name the operator flying you, you can confirm its audit status and the aircraft’s registration without asking us anything. Here is where, and here is what we commit to in the meantime.

The audits

  • Confirms whether an operator holds an ARGUS Gold, Gold Plus or Platinum rating, and when it was last audited. It says nothing about price or availability.

  • Lists operators that have passed a Wingman audit. An operator absent from it is not necessarily unsafe — plenty of good operators carry ARGUS or IS-BAO instead — but an operator claiming Wingman status should appear here.

  • The same directory at the higher standard, which adds recurrent crew and aircraft checks.

  • IBAC publishes the standard and its three stages but does not run a public lookup, so IS-BAO registration is evidenced by the operator’s certificate rather than by a search. Ask for it; a registered operator will send it without hesitating.

The aircraft registers

  • FAA N-number inquiry

    N — United States

Confirms that a US-registered tail number exists, its make and model, its year and its registered owner. If the aircraft offered to you does not appear, stop.

  • UK CAA G-INFO

    G — United Kingdom

The United Kingdom civil aircraft register: type, year, registered owner and operator.

  • The Irish register, which carries a large share of European-based business aircraft.

  • A register used almost exclusively by privately owned business aircraft.

  • Another common register for corporate aircraft, particularly larger types.

These are other people’s services and we do not control them. Every link was opened and confirmed on . If one of them has moved since, tell us and we will fix it — and in the meantime, ask us for the operator’s certificate directly.

While you are deciding

  1. Nothing is charged before the aircraft is confirmed.

You receive the operating carrier’s legal name, its AOC number and the aircraft registration in writing before any invoice or wallet address is issued. If those three things are not in front of you, you have not been asked to pay yet.

  2. One commission, inside the price you were quoted.

Our margin is already in the number you agreed to. There is no second invoice, no booking fee added at the end, and no separate charge for arranging the flight. If the total moves after you have accepted it, the reason is a change you asked for.

  3. If the operator cancels, you choose the remedy — not us.

Aircraft go technical and operators occasionally fail. When that happens before departure you are offered a replacement aircraft on equivalent terms or a full refund, and the choice between them is yours. We do not get to decide that a substitute was good enough.

These form part of our terms of business. If any of them changes, the change is dated there rather than made quietly here.

The bands above are estimates. A quote is a firm price for a specific aircraft from a named operator, and it usually comes back within 15 minutes. Nothing is charged until you have the tail number in writing.

10Questions

Questions about this route

How far in advance do I need to book?
Four to six hours is usually enough for a domestic or intra-European leg if an aircraft is already positioned nearby. Intercontinental flights need longer for crew duty time, overflight and landing permits. The genuine constraints are seasonal: Nice and Ibiza in July, Geneva in ski season, and Riyadh at any time because of permit lead times.
What is an empty leg flight?
An empty leg is a repositioning flight an aircraft has to make anyway — flying empty to collect its next passengers, or home after a drop-off. Operators sell those seats at 25% to 75% below a normal charter. The trade-off is rigidity: the route, date and often the departure window are fixed by someone else’s trip, and the flight can be cancelled if the original charter changes.
Can I bring my dog into the cabin?
Yes. Pets travel in the cabin with you on almost all charter aircraft, with no crate requirement and no cargo hold. The constraints are the operator’s policy and the destination country’s import rules — the UK, for example, requires an approved route and documentation regardless of aircraft. Tell us the species, size and destination when you request the quote and we filter to operators who accept them.
